One of the largest proven and explored deposits of slate in Germany.
Schiefergruben Magog can utilize a practically unlimited reserve of raw materials. The concessions (mining rights) extend for a length of around 8 km and a width of 1 km.
Slate-mining is currently conducted f.e. at the fifth level, at a depth of 160 m, for a distance of one 1 km in length at the Magog-Gomer-Bierkeller joint mine.
Redevelopment of the first level permits drive-in access to the deposits and has already reached a length of 400 m.
Roadways of a length greater than 500 m have been driven in the Felicitas Mine.
Slate is a natural construction material which requires no additions for its production, processing and use. Only the mine's own water is required for slate production.
